Ron Paul : House of Cards
"For those who thought a Democratic congress would end the war in Iraq, think again: their new budget proposes supplemental funds totaling about $150 billion in 2008 and $50 billion in 2009 for Iraq. This is in addition to the ordinary Department of Defense budget of more than $500 billion, which the Democrats propose increasing each year just like the Republicans."

Runyararo - A Song for Zimbabwe
I wrote this song about a week ago after speaking with my Mom who lives in Zimbabwe. She told me many stories of things she has seen in the past few months, and while thinking about these stories this song was born. The photographs are all from Zimbabwe--most of them are ones my mother has taken.
Runyararo (means "peace" in Shona*):
Hold your hand out, child,
hold your hand out and I'll fill it
I know it's not much, but will it do?
It's a big world and we're two small people in it
If I could change it, I would for you
But all I have is love
Lift your head up, friend,
lift your head and don't you worry
Somehow we'll find a way to make it through
Put your gun down, man, cause we're not here for fighting
We're simply surviving, much like you
And all we have is love
All we have is love
Ooo, Runyararo
Ooo, Runyararo
Let your pride go, sir, let your pride go and help fix this
There will be no claiming, you never knew
Are you watching, world, do you see the people dying?
And are you trying, to do all you can do?
Have you not love?
Have you not love?
Ooo, Runyararo
Ooo, Runyararo

Voices of the Huun
When I first saw "Voices of a Distance Star", I was in awe. The sweeping beauty, super detail, and subtle storyline make it one of the greatest short animation films I've seen. More heart breaking than "Grave of the Fireflies" even.
The Music is Huun Huur Tu, from Tuva, playing "Fly, Fly my Sadness", an amazing song of monumental melancholy, a perfect accompaniment to the film.
I'm proud of how this homage turned out.

Acceleration of Consciousness - Gold Ring LIA
From June 2007 to December 2012 is the completion cycle of the Mayan Calendar. The compression of time space energy fields increases the intensity of conscious awareness like an ocean wave moving on to the shore. From your perspective everything is speeding up because you are a vibratory being. In actuality the space wherein your vibration manifests is disappearing as time compresses into the omni-centric singularities. Space and Time are inseparable and integral energies that allow forms to become physical, actual and interpreted by particularized consciousness. The metamorphosis, transition or ascension can be analogized as an event horizon of a black hole wherein you are entering the zero point and preparing to move through the vortex of the singularity. The past and the future are compressed into the fullness of the eternal now

Terence Mckenna: Your Mission
My notion of what the psychedelic experience is for, is that we each must become like fishermen, and go out onto the dark ocean of mind, and let your nets down into that sea.
And what you're after is not some bohemeth, that will tear through your nets, foul them, and drag you and your little boat into the abyss.
Nor are what we looking for a bunch of sardines, that can slip through your net and disappear, ideas like "have you ever noticed that your little finger exactly fits your nostril" and stuff like that.
What we are looking for, are middle-sized ideas, that are not so small that they are trivial, and not so large that they are incomprehensible, but middle-sized ideas that we can wrestle into our boat and take back to the folks on shore, and have fish dinner.
And everyone of us, when we go into the psychedelic state, this is what we should be looking for. It's not for your elucidation, it's not part of your self-directed psychotherapy, you are an explorer, and you represent our species.
And the greatest good you can do is to bring back a new idea, because our world is endangered by the absence of good ideas. Our world is in crisis because of the absence of consciousness.
And so, to what ever degree, any one of us can bring back a small piece of the picture, and contribute it to the building of the new paradigm, then we participate in the redemption of the human spirit.
And THAT, after all, is what it's REALLY all about.

"Vrillon" 1977 Television Hijacking Incident
This is the audio to a television hijacking incident from November 26, 1977 in the United Kingdom, ten years before the Max Headroom pirating incident in Chicago. Someone, or something, interrupted an ITN report claiming they were an alien named Vrillon, and was saying that we need to get rid of weapons and such. It was mixed with lots of static, and was a rogue transmission (you could hear audio from other stations). Only the audio of ITN was interrupted. The video stayed the same (unfortunately, I only have the audio). The hijacker was never found.

Explorer Wade Davis on our amazing "ethnosphere":TEDTalks
http://www.ted.com In this stunning talk, National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Wade Davis celebrates the extraordinary diversity of the world's indigenous cultures, many of which are disappearing, as ancestral land is lost and languages die. (50 percent of the world's 6000 languages are no longer taught to children.) Against a backdrop of extraordinary photos and stories that ignite the imagination, Davis argues that we should be concerned not only for preserving the biosphere, but also the "ethnosphere," which he describes as "the sum total of all thoughts and dreams, myths, ideas, inspirations, intuitions brought into being by the human imagination since the dawn of consciousness." An anthropologist and botanist by training, Davis has traveled the world, living among indigenous cultures. He's written several books, including The Serpent and the Rainbow and Light at the Edge of the World. (Recorded February 2003 in Monterey, CA. Duration: 22:44)

Anthem - Bill Viola
A video by Bill Viola.
"Anthem is a post-industrial lamentation, structured on the single piercing scream of a young girl as she stands in the vast chamber of Union Station in Los Angeles. Viola relates this structure to the form and function of religious chants, particularly Gregorian chants (using a harmonic scale in a resonant hall) and Tantric Buddhist chants (ritual exorcism and conversation with demons). The original scream is extended in time and shifted in frequency to produce a scale of harmonic notes that comprises the soundtrack, to which Viola juxtaposes images of materialism -- industry and the worship of the body, giant oil pumps and the beating human heart, cars streaming along a freeway and blood flowing through veins, modern surgical technology and tree branches in an ancient forest. The anguished scream cuts through the corporeality of the body and contemporary culture as a living organism. For Viola, the piece is a ritual evocation of 'our deepest primal fears, darkness, and the separation of body and spirit.'" - EAI
We The People - Charlie Chaplin Speech Remix
charlie chaplin speech remix
by djpe.................................... ........................................ .....from The Great Dictator-
"I'm sorry, but I don't want to be an emperor. That's not my business. I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible - Jew, Gentile - black man - white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other's happiness - not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there's room for everyone and the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men's souls - has barricaded the world with hate - has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical; our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in man - cries for universal brotherhood - for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world - millions of despairing men, women, and little children - victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me, I say: 'Do not despair.' The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.
Soldiers! Don't give yourselves to brutes - men who despise you and enslave you - who regiment your lives - tell you what to do - what to think and what to feel! Who drill you - diet you - treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men - machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts. You don't hate, only the unloved hate.
Soldiers! Don't fight for slavery! Fight for liberty! You, the people, have the power - The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful - to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy - let us use that power - let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world - a decent world that will give men a chance to work - that will give youth a future and old age a security.
By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfil that promise. They never will! Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people. Now let us fight to fulfil that promise! Let us fight to free the world - to do away with national barriers - to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason - a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness. Soldiers, in the name of democracy, let us unite!
Salaam
About Director: Christian is an eleven-year-old who wrote, directed, produced, and edited this documentary BY HIMSELF about his experience in Ethiopia, Africa. Although not the initial plan, in the past several months reactions to his film have led to the development of a much needed reconstruction project in an Ethiopian elementary school where children still sit on the dirt floors for their lessons. Christian and his friends have experienced a paradigm shift with the realization that they (elementary students) CAN change the face of education half a world away! By letting go of limiting thoughts and "being the change they wish to see in the world", they are challenging others to live and love LARGE...right NOW! About the film: The images and video show a rare view of this young American boy (9yrs) and his sister (8yrs) traveling through small villages and bridged the cultural gap through the language of music. Tourism is relatively new to this East African nation due to many years of civil war and unfortunately it has been long associated with draught, famine, and AIDS. You are about to learn of a new Ethiopia, one of beauty, of peace... of hope. A nation of natural and cultural wonders once hidden by a thick veil of war and hunger.
Awaken
Have you ever wonder why things just don't seem right. Why the balance of our world is so displaced. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, who decides our fate? Have you ever question why the God we were taught to fear, yet love, would give us such a disadvantage even though we had nothing to do with the "original sin"? Ask you selfs these questions, question the system that has failed you time and time again.

Carl G. Jung: A Brief Introduction to His Ideas
by Donivan Bessinger
* Model of the psyche
* Personality types
Carl G. Jung (1875-1961), a psychiatrist of Zurich, Switzerland, was the founder of analytical psychology. Early in his career, Jung worked closely with Freud, but later went his own way after developing new theories about the deep unconscious.
Freud considered religious expression to arise from neurotic "illusion". By contrast, Jung considered it to arise from the psyche's inner drive toward a healthy balance of individual consciousness and the collective unconscious.
The collective unconscious, or objective psyche, is shared by all humankind. This instinctual heritage includes certain definite patterns, or archetypes, which govern the way symbols and psychic images are processed. Studies of dream and myth show these same patterns from all cultures and all eras of human history. Recognizing these archetypal patterns is the key to understanding dreams and the process of individuation.
The process of fulfillment, taking place over the course of a lifetime, is the striving toward a personal unity of consciousness and unconsciousness, and of the person with the Whole. Though Jung called it individuation, it can also be called the Journey into Wholeness.
Jung's Model of the Psyche
When I think of "myself," I am thinking of the part of me which I am conscious of. That is my ego (Latin for "I"). But there is more to me than that ...
There is also my persona (Greek for "mask") which hides my ego from the outer world. I actively maintain that mask, according to the conventions of family, society, profession, etc.
There is also my personal unconscious, which contains forgotten or never-conscious experiences of various kinds, but which is uniquely my own. And then, there is the collective unconscious which connects me with the whole human experience.
Within this unconscious realm there are several different "structures." Though the Self is the whole person, conscious and unconscious together, it also acts as center, seeking to organize the whole.
Each of us has both masculine and feminine elements in the psyche. Though the appropriate one becomes incorporated into the conscious ego, the other expresses itself as an unconscious focus of creative energy, serving the balance of ego and Self. Jung gave the name anima to the feminine center of a man, and animus to the masculine center of a woman.
But there is also my Shadow. In a sense, the Shadow is all of that which is "dark" (unconscious) to me; but in a more special sense, it can be an activated center ("complex") energized by repressed feelings, anger, old hurts, etc. If not recognized as such (made conscious), its energy can be projected onto others. Then the faults I see in other people are really the mirror image of my own. My first task of individuation is to "own my own shadow."
Personality Type
Jung showed that all humans, regardless of race, culture, etc. fall into certain types or personality patterns, based on these opposing pairs of characteristics:
* Our general attitude toward the world tends to be either introverted or extraverted. The extraverted person tends to be more outer-directed and action-oriented, while an introverted person is more likely to be comfortable with solitude and inner reflection.
* We deal with incoming information by sensing and by intuition . The sensing function deals with incoming information in a strict item-by-item fashion ("just the facts" and "just give me the evidence"); while the intuition function works to "get it all together". Since these are more or less automatic, not requiring rational process, they are called the "nonrational" functions.
* We process information by thinking and by valuing (or "feeling"). Both of these involve rational process, but the thinking function is more direct, logical, and linear, while the valuing function "weighs" information in nonlinear ways.
We all have the capacity for all of the functions, but one or the other in each of these pairs is naturally easier. We habitually rely on that preferred function.
These personality types are tested by the Meyers-Briggs Personality Inventory, which also scores whether the "rational" set ( judging type) or the "nonrational" set ( perceiving type) is the stronger. These types are designated by initials, such as INTJ or ESFP. There are sixteen possible combinations.
Jung taught that the process of healing and wholeness requires balancing each of these functions. The weaker function of each pair is usually unconscious. I must become conscious of it if I am to make a balanced life.

Cosmic Dance
The dynamics of poetic analogy are often overlooked, however our intuition functions within this paradigm of thought. Shamanism as well as most esoteric schools of thought have used as their primary modus operandi the dynamics of poetic analogy. It is only over the past 500 years that we have forgotten this non-rational way of perceiving our world. Irronically it is through the instruments of the Western pragmatic materialistic culture that we now can weave all of these observations into a poem. This is the essence of the information revolution, the medium is the message

Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse
But there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself
Where is my mind [3x]

See it swimmin'

Except the little fish
But they told me, he swears
Tryin' to talk to me, coy koi.

Talk by Naomi Wolf - The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot
This latest offering from best-selling author Wolf, The Beauty Myth, is a harbinger of an age that may finally see the patriarchal realm of political discourse usurped. Here is Wolf’s compellingly and cogently argued political argument for civil rights, not women’s rights. She contributes this call to action to a canon that from Plato and Aristotle to Hobbes and Locke and forward, with a few exceptions (e.g., Hannah Arendt), has been largely populated by men. Wolf’s work is actually closer to the agitated, passionate polemics of Emma Goldman than the ponderous, philosophical musings of Arendt. Readers will appreciate her energy and urgency as she warns we are living through a dangerous "fascist shift” brought about by the Bush administration. Her chapters outline the “Ten Steps to Fascism” citing historical corollaries (as well as the pigs in Orwell’s Animal Farm), with headings like “Invoke an External and Internal Threat,” “Establish Secret Prisons,” and “Target Key Individuals.” In other words, fascism can exist without dictatorship. Her book’s publication through a small press in Vermont that is committed to “the politics and practice of sustainable living” rather than through a large trade house is itself a political act. Highly recommended for all collections.
—Theresa Kintz, Wilkes Univ., Wilkes-Barre, PA
Review
“The framers of our Constitution fully understood that it can happen here. Patriots like Madison, Paine, and Franklin would certainly applaud Naomi Wolf and recognize her as a sister in their struggle.”
—Mark Crispin Miller, author of Fooled Again
"Naomi Wolf sounds the alarm for all American patriots. We must come together as a nation and recommit ourselves to the fundamental American idea that no president, whether Democrat or Republican, will ever be given unchecked power."
—Wes Boyd, co-founder, MoveOn.org
“Naomi Wolf ’s End of America is a vivid, urgent, mandatory wake-up call that addresses momentous issues of tyranny, democracy, and survival.”
—Blanche Wiesen Cook, author of the three-volume Eleanor Roosevelt
“You will be shocked and disturbed by this book. Most Americans reject outright any comparison of post 9/11 America with the fascism and totalitarianism of Nazi Germany or Pinochet’s Chile. Sadly, the parallels and similarities, what Wolf calls the ‘echoes’ between those societies and America today, are all too compelling.”
—Michael Ratner, Center for Constitutional Rights

Madonna - Hey You
Hey you,
Don't you give up, it's not so bad
There's still a chance for us
Hey you,
Just be yourself, don't be so shy
There's reasons why it's hard
Keep it together, you'll make it alright
Our celebration is going on tonight
Poets and prophets would envy what we do
This could be good, hey you
Hey you,
Open your heart, it's not so strange
You've got to change this time
Hey you,
Remember this, none of it's real
Including the way you feel
Keep it together, we'll make it alright
Our celebration is going on tonight
Poets and prophets Would envy what we do
This could be good, hey you
Save your soul, little sister
Save your soul, little brother
[Hey You lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]
Hey you, save yourself
Don't rely on anyone else
First love yourself, then you can love someone else
If you can change someone else, then you have saved someone else
But you must first love yourself, then you can love someone else
If you can change someone else, then you have saved someone else
But you must first
Hey you,
There on the fence, you've got a choice
One day it will make sense
Hey you,
First love yourself, or if you can't,
Try to love someone else
Keep it together, we'll make it alright
Our celebration is going on tonight
Poets and prophets will envy what we do
This could be good, hey you
First love yourself, then you can love someone else
If you can change someone else, then you have saved someone else
But you must first love yourself, then you can love someone else
If you can change someone else, then you have saved someone else
But you must first
Michael Jackson - Earth Song
What about sunrise
What about rain
What about all the things
That you said we were to gain.. .
What about killing fields
Is there a time
What about all the things
That you said was yours and mine...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we've shed before
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores?
Aaaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaaah
What have we done to the world
Look what we've done
What about all the peace
That you pledge your only son...
What about flowering fields
Is there a time
What about all the dreams
That you said was yours and mine...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the children dead from war
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores
Aaaaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaaaah
I used to dream
I used to glance beyond the stars
Now I don't know where we are
Although I know we've drifted far
Aaaaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaaaaah
Hey, what about yesterday
(What about us)
What about the seas
(What about us)
The heavens are falling down
(What about us)
I can't even breathe
(What about us)
What about the bleeding Earth
(What about us)
Can't we feel its wounds
(What about us)
What about nature's worth
(ooo,ooo)
It's our planet's womb
(What about us)
What about animals
(What about it)
We've turned kingdoms to dust
(What about us)
What about elephants
(What about us)
Have we lost their trust
(What about us)
What about crying whales
(What about us)
We're ravaging the seas
(What about us)
What about forest trails
(ooo, ooo)
Burnt despite our pleas
(What about us)
What about the holy land
(What about it)
Torn apart by creed
(What about us)
What about the common man
(What about us)
Can't we set him free
(What about us)
What about children dying
(What about us)
Can't you hear them cry
(What about us)
Where did we go wrong
(ooo, ooo)
Someone tell me why
(What about us)
What about babies
(What about it)
What about the days
(What about us)
What about all their joy
(What about us)
What about the man
(What about us)
What about the crying man
(What about us)
What about Abraham
(What was us)
What about death again
(ooo, ooo)
Do we give a damn
Native American Code of Ethics
2. Be tolerant of those who are lost on their path. Ignorance, conceit, anger, jealousy and greed stem from a lost soul. Pray that they will find guidance.
3. Search for yourself, by yourself. Do not allow others to make your path for you. It is your road, and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.
4. Treat the guests in your home with much consideration. Serve them the best food, give them the best bed and treat them with respect and honor.
5. Do not take what is not yours whether from a person, a community, the wilderness or from a culture. It was not earned nor given. It is not yours.
6. Respect all things that are placed upon this earth—whether it be people, animal or plant. Honor the Spirit in all things.
7. Honor other people’s thoughts, wishes and words. Never interrupt another or mock or rudely mimic them. Allow each person the right to personal expression.
8. Never speak of others in a bad way. The negative energy that you put out into the universe will multiply when it returns to you. All persons make mistakes. And all mistakes can be forgiven. Bad thoughts cause illness of the mind, body and spirit. Practice optimism.
9. Nature is not for us, it is a part of us. They are part of your worldly family.
10. Children are the seeds of our future. Plant love in their hearts and water them with wisdom and life’s lessons. When they are grown, give them space to grow.
11. Avoid hurting the hearts of others. The poison of your pain will return to you.
12. Be truthful at all times. Honesty is the test of ones will within this universe.
13. Keep yourself balanced. Your mental self, spiritual self, emotional self, and physical self—all need to be strong, pure and healthy. Work out the body to strengthen the mind. Grow rich in spirit to cure emotional ails.
14. Make conscious decisions as to who you will be and how you will react. Be responsible for your own actions.
15. Respect the privacy and personal space of others. Do not touch the personal property of others—especially sacred and religious objects. This is forbidden.
16. Be true to yourself first. You cannot nurture and help others if you cannot nurture and help yourself first.
17. Respect others religious beliefs. Do not force your belief on others.
18. Share your good fortune with others. Participate in charity. Be willing to give back to the people, so that People will live.

Ron Paul Appearance on Tonight Show a Success?
The reviews are in on GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul's appearance on the Tonight Show. Posters at LewRockwell.com and DailyPaul.com write that the show was a success for Ron Paul. He was relaxed, humorous and apparently in his element. Jay Leno was prepped, courteous and interested.
From a campaign standpoint, Ron Paul's appearance on national programs such as the Tonight Show are most important to the campaign which still needs to establish name recognition for Jeffersonian conservative candidate. Fund-raising apparently receives a considerable boost following such appearances.
According to thestressblog.com, the line of people hoping for a ticket to see Ron Paul was the longest in recent memory. A video of the program can be seen at thestressblog.com, along with a succinct summary of some of the highlights.
http://thestressblog.com/2007/10/30/dr-ron-paul-on-the-tonight-show-with-jay-leno/
- Jay asked all the right questions. Did his research.
- Had Ron on for 2 segments. Brought him back after the commercial break.
- Plugged his book A Foreign Policy of Freedom.
- A woman who has gone to every Jay Leno taping for the past 3 years said, the only guests to have this many people outside hoping to get a ticket were George Clooney, Justin Timberlake, and the kid from Harry Potter. Possibly the longest line for tickets in Tonight Show history, at the least in recent memory.
- Jonny Rotten of the Sex Pistols had a shout out to Ron Paul while on stage. After the show he told Ron it was an honor to meet him.
- Tom Cruise came by the dressing room and talked for about 10 minutes about legislation and came across very supportive.
- Jay Leno did the same and was very relaxed and friendly.
Not all who watched Ron Paul were impressed with his performance. FMNN Feedbacker (and blogger) Jake Witmer - obviously an eloquent supporter of Ron Paul - has a different opinion:
(Feedback received early AM October 31)
Let me first say this: I love Ron Paul, and I thought it was cool that Johnny Rotten gave him props (kind of) during the Pistol's performance of Anarchy in the UK!
Were it for nothing other than Paul's fight for our freedom to self-medicate (his fight against the USA's coming induction into the World Health Organization based on mandatory compliance with codex alimentarius), he would be a hero to not just the freedom fighters of America, but to all Americans that want to live long healthy lives. He is also a hero to gunowners, of which I am one.
That said, Ron Paul fails miserably to do 2 things:
1) He needs to win the capitalists and freedom fighters in the Republican Party, in order to even have a chance of winning the R primary (and the game is pretty much over if he doesn't win that)! Moreover, if the game is not over at that point, (and he continues to run) he sabotages ballot access and support for the more consistent pro-freedom effort of the LP, long term. He should take a huge lesson in learning how to talk to pro-gun, pro-free-trade, pro-military people who are not necessarily pro-Iraq. I have yet to mention the fact that there are over 5 million gun owners in the USA, (and to loudly and publicly condemn the US government for waging war against them!
It would be easy to phrase this in a way that would please MANY liberals as well, such as: In a police state, the police hold powers that are superior to what the average citizen holds, and due process breaks down. When our government seized the guns from the residents of New Orleans, that amounted to an assault on the 2nd amendment to the USA. My message is clear: you can't pick and choose which rights you want to protect from the Bill of Rights!
I HAVE NEVER HEARD PAUL WITH HIS SUPERIOR MAJOR MEDIA BULLY PULPIT EVER ONCE REFERENCE THE BILL OF RIGHTS! HE SHOULD BE MENTIONING THE BILL OF RIGHTS EVERY TWO SECONDS! YET IT NEVER HAPPENS! HE NEVER SAYS BILL OF RIGHTS HE NEVER SAYS SPIRIT OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE HE DOESN'T SOUND PATRIOTIC OR CAPITALIST, UNLESS YOU ARE WELL EDUCATED!
2) The more intelligent Libertarian Party petitioners I've known would have replied to Jay Leno's softball questions better than Ron Paul did. Leno gave him questions that begged him to DEFINE HIS POSITION AS A CONSISTENT ONE. Leno MADE IT EASY FOR HIM TO DO SO. Ronald Reagan would have sounded more libertarian in his response to those questions than Paul did! Ronald Reagan would not have mentioned Austrian Economics (Unless it was a Reason Magazine interview, and not a major media TV interview!). He would have had the sense to say I got interested in Economics, and became a big supporter of the Milton Friedman, and the Chicago School of Economics, which is roughly the common sense school of Economics. The basic idea, since I only have a few seconds here, is that you can't spend more money than you bring in! (smile) Right now (blah blah blah, continue with foreign policy comment if you must)
Leno gave him a softball question: But how would we pay for everything if there was no income tax? All Paul has to do there is say something to the effect of: The military is funded, like it was before the income tax was passed: with corporate excise taxes. The roads -right now- are paid for 100% by gasoline taxes. (Continue with his comment about getting along pretty well before 1913, and INCLUDE SOMETHING PATRIOTIC SOUNDING ABOUT AMERICA'S HISTORY, such as: The time period immediately preceding 1913 was the time when America rose to dominance as a powerhouse of trade and industrialization. The reason was: we were a capitalist nation that engaged with free trade with all, and we did not engage in unnecessary wars! We were the most capitalist and most noninterventionist then, and we achieved the most wealth because of it!)
Another softball from Leno: ARE YOU AN ISOLATIONIST? Paul should have said No, not at all, I'm a noninterventionist! There's a big difference! If you don't label what you are, all the uneducated idiots in the audience say to themselves: Oh, he actually is an isolationist, he just doesn't want to say it! PUT THE CONTRADICTION FIRST, ___THEN__ DEFINE IT! This is just basic human psychology at work here! It's basic toastmasters stuff!

Pink ft. Indigo Girls - Dear Mr. President
Dear Mr. President,
Come take a walk with me.
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me.
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly.
What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What do you feel when you look in the mirror?
Are you proud?
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why?
Dear Mr. President,
Were you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
How can you say
No child is left behind?
We're not dumb and we're not blind.
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell.
What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine.
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye?
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh
How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President,
You'd never take a walk with me.
Would you?
